What’s New

Sands End Arts & Community Centre

Music, Magic & Mayhem

For the first time ever the Sands End Arts & Community Centre (SEACC), an independent charity and unfunded organisation, will be hosting a night of entertainment on Thursday 10 Oct to raise vital funds for the centre. As well as music, comedy and magic there will be a few surprises added into the mix and a Silent Auction with fantastic prizes up for grabs.

Urban Village LDN talked to Nina von der Werth, Director of SEACC, to find out more. “Music, Magic and Mayhem is SEACC’s first ever annual fundraiser raising vital funds for the centre to help support our role as a meeting place, community space and arts programme for the community. Featuring up close magic, jazz and sword swallowing, the night promises to be as weird and wonderful as the centre itself. We’ll be raising additional funds through a silent auction with items including dinner at Oma - London’s “Best Restaurant of the Year” according to The Times and a very life like severed hand from the autopsy table of Silent Witness”.

Why not gather a group of local friends together and lend your support whilst having a fantastic night out? Tickets cost £45 and include a welcome drink, delicious food courtesy of PAUL Bakery and all the evening’s entertainment. You can purchase tickets via Eventbrite (see link below) or from the reception at SEACC. All profits made are invested back into the running of the centre and development of their new arts and community programmes.

Fulham 10K

SW6 runners have you heard there’s a brand new Fulham 10k that starts and finishes at Eel Brook Common on 17 November? This road closed circuit organised by RunThrough takes in the sights of Fulham and will raise funds for CW+ the official Charity of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which encompasses Chelsea and Westminster and West Middlesex University Hospital. Their community-based services serve a population of more than 1.5 million people and this event will raise funds for the Trust to create world-class facilities, drive innovation and research, and enhance patient and staff wellbeing.

Participants (minimum age 15) will receive one-to-one fundraising support from a dedicated fundraiser, materials such as posters, leaflets and collection tins to boost your fundraising, a complimentary CW+ running vest, cheer points and support on race day from their fundraising team.

Urban Village LDN spoke to Chloe Roberts, Public Fundraising Manager at CW+ who told us we are absolutely thrilled to be the partner charity for the inaugural Fulham 10k happening in November in collaboration with RunThrough! This is truly a race on the community's doorstep, offering a great way for locals to stay active as autumn rolls around, while taking in the beautiful streets of Fulham. Not only that, but every step our runners take directly benefits patients, families, and staff across the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The event has already been so well received and we look forward to even more locals coming together to make a meaningful impact for their local hospital. We couldn’t be more excited!" Curated Community

Curated Community is a social network platform which has just launched their app from their HQ based at Fulham’s Pavilion Club. Billed as a social springboard, their daily playful quiz, with five questions ranging from the practical to the seriously niche, matches you with people in your area based on things you like to do. Intelligent software and insights build a specific profile of each member’s personality and preferences about how they like to spend their time, favourite haunts, shared interests, curating matches for compatibility and networks based on profiles that are continually evolving.

We spoke to Mimmi Alverlin from Curated Community who told Urban Village LDN “our app functions like a local digital members club in your pocket, enabling members to extend their social circle via a gamified match-making tool which supports in person meet-ups for 20 - 35 year olds looking to explore, enjoy the best experiences in London, connect with like minded individuals and move from online to offline”.

Curated Community have partnered with Little Blue Door and Parsons Green Club here in Fulham; as well as other London venues and destinations. We caught up with Charlotte Barry, Events Manager at Parsons Green Club who told us “we’re delighted to have partnered with Curated Community offering their members access to our hidden gem of a club. We are looking forward to welcoming their members and giving them the opportunity to come in and play tennis on our courts once a week”. In the last six months the Daisy Trust has given over £50,000 to 26 beneficiaries and this event will continue that support as 10% of what’s spent at the Fair goes directly to those in need in our borough; thanks to the kind donations made by all Fair stallholders.
