What’s New

The Fulham Arms

We’ve watched the facelift of what used to be the Sands End and the emergence of The Fulham Arms, with it’s gorgeous sage green facade, fancy gleaming traditional swinging outdoor sign, window boxes and new outdoor furniture in a spot that always catches the rays; well when the sun’s shining! There are a few locals that are sad that the Sands End has gone and although we think the name change is a shame we’re glad it’s kept a Fulham moniker and that there’s also a nod back to this local spot; more on that later. To be honest we’re just relieved that this pub located on the corner of Stephendale and Broughton Road is still going with so many local pubs closing down across the country. It’s part of a sisterly group that includes Cross Keys, Admiral Codrington and the Brown Cow; is it a good or a bad thing that we’ve been to them all?!

There’s now a brunch menu at The Fulham Arms with “loaded pancakes” and eggs “every which way”, Sunday roasts of course are a given and they have a children’s menu which includes fish goujons, chicken (course) and linguini pasta with hidden vegetable sauce (they get the parenting thing), cheesy pitta pizza, tiger toast (marmite stripes!) and there’s a kids roast. Owned by the Butcombe Brewing Company the Fulham Arms have a loyalty card scheme so you can turn purchases into points and enjoy 25% off food every Wednesday, a perfect opportunity to sink into one of their leather clad booths and check out the Autumn menu which includes seared scallops, Jerusalem artichoke, Stornoway Black pudding green apple and hazelnuts.

The Green Room

Parsons Green has a new bar in a spot you’ll be familiar with. The Green Room is nestled away in the basement of Aragon House and the space has been newly designed to give it a speakeasy vibe, with interiors that feature a mirrored ceiling, gold/ brass fixtures and fittings throughout and as you’d expect green stools and upholstered benches. You can book space in the bar for groups of up to 25 people, a table for 2 or simply pick a bar stool and do a bit of people watching whilst savouring a cocktail of your choice.

We love a sundowner in the garden at Aragon House but sometimes when we want a quiet catch up in the autumn / winter months the bar area can be a bit full on! The Green Room sounds like a much more relaxing option to enjoy a cocktail, glass of wine or some bubbles with a charcuterie board with the added bonus of actually being able to hear what your friends are saying! The Green Room vibe is an elegant bar with a more sophisticated atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle and it’s strictly over 18s so you can escape yours and other peoples kids.

Now you know we love a cocktail or two and it looks like The Green Room has come up with some refreshing options with the inhouse team creating a menu to compliment the character of the Green Room. They’ll also be teaming and up with new brand partners on a regular basis to keep things fresh, at the moment they’re currently working with Money 47 Gin and some cocktail choices include “Monkey Smash” (lemon juice, apple juice, honey, fresh mint and dehydrated apple) and “Sloe Spritz” (Lille rose, prosecco, soda, berries and lemon). Other cocktails we’ve got our eye on include their Chilli Mango Margarita (Olmeca Blanco, Cointreau, lime juice, chilli syrup, mango puree and salted chilli) and the Mayflower (Rhubarb & cranberry gin, fresh raspberries, lime juice, elderflower cordial).

BÓHA London

Fulham gourmands this ones for you! BÓHA London opened its doors a few weeks ago at 562 Kings Road and although we keep hearing Chelsea flagged as the location, with an SW6 postcode this new addition is on our turf Fulhamites! BÓHA is a restaurant & cocktail bar that “fuses the best of Irish and British cuisine, alongside meticulously created cocktails, wines and Champagnes”. There’s space to accommodate 140 people across the main restaurant floor, on the gorgeous covered lush foliage terrace and in “Shibeen” their 1920’s downstairs speakeasy; which will transform into a vibrant late-night venue.

The menu offers bar bites, sharing plates and larger dishes which all feature sustainably sourced, seasonal produce and ingredients. Hit the fork on their website to check out the full menu which includes Herb fed Yorkshire organic chicken with burnt lemon and a honey glaze drizzle, Steak tartare, with caviar and a twist of dried salted egg yoke, Wagyu short rib Irish stew, with stout, malt onions and fermented celery and a whole Brixham Dover sole, with brown butter, capers, lemon, parsley and samphire. BÓHA’s impressive selection of meats include an Irish chocolate fed Wagyu tomahawk, a Wagyu sirloin, and an Irish whiskey marinated, charcoal cooked Irish Hanger Steak, all displayed in a dry aged locker next to their glass fronted kitchen so you can watch your steak sizzle. Puddings include an Irish take on an Affogato; Báite, with vanilla ice cream, Caravan espresso, and Five Farms Irish Cream and a chocolate & peanut dessert, with caramelia ice cream, nougat, and crispy sponge.

Jay Bradley, Co-Founder of BÓHA London told Urban Village LDN “having spent much of my life travelling the world for my various businesses, I've seen countless interpretations of Irish and British cuisine, and often it’s your stereotypical bangers & mash, toad in the hole, and fish & chips. Dishes that don’t sit well in a refined, high energy setting, like we’ll offer guests at BÓHA. The British Isles offer some of the finest produce in the world - our meat, our seafood, and our vegetables are second to none. Those of us who live here know that because we see it, but this isn’t the perception abroad, and in my opinion that’s because of the way our cuisines are interpreted. They’re often heavy, occasionally stodgy, and rarely what you want to eat before a night out. At BÓHA, it’s about showcasing exceptional produce through the lens of true Irish and British cuisine, presented in a refined, contemporary, and fun atmosphere”

The BÓHA London team see their first location as the beginning of their aspirations for a truly global brand; the founders have already got their sights set on Miami, Dubai, and New York. If you fancy checking it out they have a residents offer which includes 50% off food bills on Tuesday and Wednesday and 20% off Sunday roasts.
